People want to play more Modern! Wizards of the Coast just added a Modern Pro Tour to the 2015 line up after public outcry over no modern (originally all the Pro-Tours were to be standard format). This tells me is Modern is alive and well. Our tournaments at Shuffle & Cut in Orange, Ca can Testify to this. Eleven people showed up to compete for store credit and be eligible for the Arcbound Ravager we gave away as a door prize (hot off of Affinity's win last week). Ron Parker managed to bring Delver back to the top... again. Ryan Betts also took third playing delver. Although affinity didn't pull off back to back 4-0 records, Paul Llamas piloted an interesting infect/affinity deck to a 3-1 finish.
Decks People Played
Thirteen players showed up to play modern Magic: The Gathering on August 4th, 2014. The tournament lasted four rounds with AJ Rodriguez, piloting Affinity, going undefeated. Although Affinity has done well in many of our modern tournaments here at Shuffle, this is the first time since we started doing metagame reports that it has taken down the top spot. Being a 110% style tournament, AJ was rewarded for his efforts with $23 store credit and all four players with a record of 3-1 were prized out $13 store credit. We also gave out a Kiki-Jiki as a random door prize!
